Publication Ethics

BioMedPha is committed to maintaining high standards of integrity, transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to follow recognized principles of research and publication ethics.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must submit original and scientifically sound work. Manuscripts must not contain plagiarism, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate image manipulation, or misleading information.

The same manuscript must not be submitted simultaneously to more than one journal. Previous publications and relevant sources must be properly acknowledged and cited.

2. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and who accept responsibility for the published content.

Guest, gift, and ghost authorship are not acceptable. Individuals who contributed to the research but do not qualify for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged.

All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.

3. Research Involving Humans or Animals

Research involving human participants, human biological materials, identifiable personal data, or animals must comply with applicable ethical, institutional, and legal requirements.

Where required, authors must obtain approval from an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB), Research Ethics Committee, or equivalent authority and provide relevant approval information in the manuscript.

Informed consent must be obtained from human participants where applicable. Appropriate ethical approval and animal welfare standards must be followed for animal research.

4. Clinical Trials

Clinical trials should comply with applicable ethical and regulatory requirements. Where prospective trial registration is required, authors should provide the name of the trial registry and registration number in the manuscript.

5. Plagiarism and Originality

BioMedPha does not tolerate plagiarism, inappropriate duplication, or redundant publication.

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using appropriate similarity-detection software. Similarity reports are assessed in context and are not used as the sole basis for determining plagiarism.

6. Data Integrity

Authors must accurately report research methods, observations, analyses, and results.

Fabrication, falsification, selective manipulation, inappropriate alteration of research data, or misleading modification of figures and images constitutes research misconduct.

Authors should retain relevant research data and make supporting information available when reasonably required for editorial or ethical investigation, subject to confidentiality, consent, and legal requirements.

7. Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other interests that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or publication process.

Authors must also disclose relevant sources of research funding and the role of funders, where applicable.

8. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, timely, and confidential assessments.

Reviewers must not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal advantage and should decline a review where a conflict of interest could compromise their impartiality.

9. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated fairly and on their scholarly and scientific merit.

Editorial decisions must not be influenced by authors' nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, personal relationships, financial considerations, or other irrelevant factors.

Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and appropriately manage conflicts of interest.

10. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Generative artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, citations, data, analysis, and conclusions of their manuscripts. Substantive use of generative AI in research or manuscript preparation should be transparently disclosed where applicable.

Confidential manuscript material should not be entered into generative AI systems by reviewers or editors where doing so could compromise confidentiality or data protection.

11. Corrections and Retractions

When significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, BioMedPha may publish a correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial notice according to the nature and severity of the issue.

The journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

12. Complaints and Appeals

Authors and other stakeholders may raise concerns regarding editorial decisions, peer review, publication ethics, or published content.

Complaints and appeals will be considered objectively and, where appropriate, reviewed by an editor who was not directly involved in the matter.

13. Research Misconduct

Allegations involving plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, unethical research, authorship manipulation, duplicate publication, peer review manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other misconduct will be investigated fairly and confidentially.

Where sufficient evidence of serious misconduct exists, the journal may reject or retract the affected work and may contact relevant institutions or authorities where appropriate.

Commitment to Publication Integrity

BioMedPha is committed to protecting the integrity of biomedical and pharmaceutical research and to ensuring that editorial and publication decisions are based on scientific quality, ethical standards, and reliable evidence.
