Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism and Ethical Content Policy
Algora: Journal of AI, Data Science & Engineering is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity and academic honesty. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and will result in serious consequences as outlined in this policy. Additionally, with the evolving role of artificial intelligence in research and publishing, the journal emphasizes the ethical use of AI tools in the preparation and submission of manuscripts.
This policy ensures that all published content is original, ethically sound, properly cited, and free from any form of academic misconduct.
2. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the unauthorized use or representation of another person’s work, ideas, or data without appropriate citation or acknowledgment. Forms of plagiarism include, but are not limited to:
- Copying text, figures, tables, or datasets from another source without proper citation
- Paraphrasing or summarizing another author’s ideas without proper attribution
- Reusing previously published content by the same author (self-plagiarism) without disclosure
- Submitting a manuscript concurrently under review elsewhere or already published
- Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data, results, or references
3. Detection and Screening
All submissions to Algora are subject to plagiarism detection using reputable software tools such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent platforms.
- Manuscripts with high similarity scores or suspicious content will be flagged for editorial investigation
- Authors may be asked to provide explanations, source materials, or corrected versions of their manuscript
4. Consequences of Plagiarism
if plagiarism is confirmed, the following actions may be taken based on the severity:
- Immediate Rejection of the manuscript without further review
- Revocation of Acceptance if plagiarism is discovered post-acceptance but pre-publication
- Retraction of the article from the journal’s archive if published, with a formal retraction notice
- Blacklisting of the responsible author(s) from future submissions
- Notification to Academic Institutions, employers, or funding agencies in cases of serious ethical breach
4. Author Responsibility
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality and authenticity of the submitted work. They are expected to:
- Verify all citations, quotations, and reused materials
- Declare conflicts of interest and prior publication history
- Ensure that ethical approvals have been obtained for studies involving human or animal subjects
- Confirm co-authorship contributions and review of the final manuscript by all authors
6. Ethical Use of AI Tools
Algora recognizes the emerging role of AI in academic writing and research but expects all such tools to be used transparently and ethically.
- Authors may use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, or data-driven platforms) for grammar correction, idea generation, or computational modeling, but not to generate entire manuscripts or manipulate findings
- AI-generated content must be disclosed clearly in the methodology or acknowledgments section
- The intellectual responsibility for the manuscript lies solely with the human authors
- Use of AI in data analysis or algorithm development should be clearly described and reproducible
Improper use of AI, such as generating fabricated data or undisclosed AI-written text, will be treated as a form of academic misconduct
6. Handling of Suspected Plagiarism
If plagiarism is suspected during or after the review process:
- The editorial team will contact the corresponding author with details of the concern
- Authors will be given an opportunity to respond, explain, or correct the manuscript
- If not satisfactorily resolved, the manuscript will be rejected, and the case may be escalated to the Ethics Advisory Board
7. Collaboration and Reporting
In serious cases, the journal may collaborate with:
- Authors’ affiliated institutions
- Funding agencies
- Other publishers and academic bodies
- Ethics committees such as COPE
to ensure appropriate handling and reporting of misconduct.
8. Educational Commitment
Algora is committed to promoting ethical publishing practices and helping authors—especially early-career researchers—understand proper citation and attribution standards. Educational resources and guidelines are made available through the journal website and author portal.
9. Retraction Policy
In cases where plagiarism or other ethical violations are discovered after publication, the article will be formally retracted. A retraction notice will be issued, explaining the reason for retraction, and the record will be maintained permanently in the journal archive and any applicable indexing databases.
